Where is the pride?
“Where is the pride?” we asked ourselves. Where are the t-shirts that celebrate the pioneers and innovators of rock and roll, the unsung heroes? Where is the well-designed clothing with smart designs that don’t resort to foul thoughts and cheap sentiments? We were perplexed. We had no answers. Frankly, it made us a little mad. So, we at Tuff Duds got busy.
Our travels took us across America. To the burgs and villages and cities where the magic took place. Where the knob twisters first captured sound on magnetic tape and later on digital drives. Wondrous sounds that once blared from stationary jukeboxes and now flow through the ear buds of listeners on the fly. With frayed wires (and nerves), tubed-amps and too often magnetic tape that held the ghost of yesterday’s sessions, they assisted the musicians in creating the sound that’s come to be known as rock and roll.
So, join in the celebration. Spend a little time and bask in the history of the medium. Visit with the under recognized sound-smiths that hammered and shaped the squeaks and squeals of countless sessions into a pastiche of music that is almost too vast and wondrous to comprehend. But demands exploration none-the-less.
